In this event, experts from Indiana University and K&L Gates will provide AUECO members with training on export jurisdiction and classification. The discussion will cover the order of review, “specially designed” analysis, and practical case studies. Participants should be prepared to engage in interactive classification exercises.

Bio: Kathryn serves as Director of Research Security & Export Control at Indiana University (IU) within the Research Security Office. Before joining IU, she worked at the U.S. Department of State's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls as a Commodity Jurisdiction (CJ) Analyst, where her work included processing CJ requests, developing regulatory policy for the U.S. Munitions List, supporting rulemaking efforts, and drafting advisory opinions. She began her career in export compliance at the University of Arizona as an Export Control Analyst. She is licensed to practice law in Texas and Washington, D.C.
Marissa Cloutier

Bio: Marissa brings nearly 15 years of national security and trade experience from senior roles in the US government at the US Department of State, US Department of the Air Force, NASA, and US Department of Commerce and at a private defense contractor. Marissa's background includes drafting and successfully implementing the current official US Department of State export control compliance guidelines and risk assessment criteria for aerospace, defense, and technology companies, resolving complex investigations of export control violations by major US and international defense contractors, and building and auditing trade compliance programs of numerous major multinational corporations and research institutions.
