Description:

• Sessions 1-2  (Basic Workshop) – These sessions will discuss the EAR, ITAR, and OFAC regulations and how each set of regulations apply to various activities in a university setting. Examples, exercises and group discussions will be used to discuss and explain topics such as common license exceptions, catch-all controls, deemed exports and university-based exemptions to the regulations.
• Sessions 3-4 (Advanced Basic Workshop) – These sessions will build on sessions 1 & 2 by providing real-world examples and more difficult scenarios of common areas for export compliance reviews and/or risk assessments.  Panelists will discuss and explain topics such as fundamental research and sponsored research agreements, classification, use, shipments, license exceptions, biologicals and sanctions regulations.
• Session 5 (Wrap up) – This session will provide a summary of sessions 1 through 4.  Closing with a separate presentation addressing Voluntary Self-Disclosures and the importance for Institutions to have procedures in place to evaluate these potential situations.  Participants will have the ability to have additional questions answered within this session.
